With the leadership of the Board of Directors, she develops and implements the Genesis Group strategic plan. As the Director of Programs and Partnerships, Angelo is responsible for developing and overseeing the hub’s overall programming, as well as managing a talented and driven programs team. In addition, Angelo takes a leading role in establishing relationships with Genesis’ various partners in both the public and private sector. As a recent convert to innovation, Angelo found his vocation having previously worked at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.

Director of Finance and Administration

Colin joined Genesis in 2016 and is responsible for leading the operations function as well as being an trusted advisor for client companies. Previously, he held senior management and board-level roles in the non-profit sector and held policy/financial roles with the provincial government. Colin is an entrepreneur, the founder of SMB Connect Inc., and is passionate about rural economic development.

Business Development Consultant

Andrew joins the Genesis team as the Business Development Consultant. This position is designed to help support Genesis companies, mainly through project-based structured work projects and coaching. Andrew has previous experience in many roles, including co-founder of Thrive Software, instructor at the College of the North Atlantic, and founder of Sledworthy Magazine.

Dyanna McCarthy
Program Coordinator, Women In Technology And Start-Up Visa

Dyanna started at Genesis in 2018, taking on a new role managing the Women in Technology and Start-up Visa Programs. Dyanna can help by informing you about the programs that are out there and being a sounding board to work with. Dyanna has been employed in the technology sector for over four years, working with companies and partners to grow and support the sector in the province.

Liam Flanagan
Start-Up Development Coordinator 

Liam is the facilitator of the Genesis Evolution program, which helps ~60 early-stage entrepreneurs grow their business ideas every year. Liam is well-versed in the Business Model Canvas and the Value Proposition Canvas, and is available to complete business model and value prop reviews to ensure that any start-up has problem-solution fit. He also helps entrepreneurs get the most out of their customer interviews and develop valuable pitches. Liam’s other experience includes working with the federal government’s funding agency and a college in Northern Ontario.

Megan Dobbin
Community Engagement Coordinator

Megan is the Community Engagement Coordinator at Genesis, working on all things marketing and communications. Megan is responsible for helping to share the stories of Genesis companies with the world; by way of social media, newsletter, job boards and more. She also helps communicate Genesis happenings internally and is involved with event planning. She has previously been involved in the local ecosystem with roles at a funding agency, local start-up and investment firm.

Lisa Griffin
Financial Assistant

Lisa joined the Genesis staff in 2009.  She prepares all of the monthly invoicing to the clients and her main tasks revolve around helping Genesis itself, dealing with funding claims, accounts, processing travel and expense claims and more. Prior to joining Genesis, Lisa worked with public account firms over a 13 year period in numerous administrative positions and spent the last seven of those years as an office administrator.

Rebecca joined Genesis in 2017 and is the go-to person for anything administrative around the Genesis office. She brings experience from a variety of roles in human resources, payroll, insurance, job classification, office administration, and retail sales.
