Empowering entrepreneurship: Three technology companies graduate from Genesis Centre

A trio of emerging technology startups, already making waves in the international business community, graduated today from the Genesis Centre, Memorial University’s award-winning business incubator.

Whitecap Scientific Corporation, Seamatica Aerospace and Agile Sensor Technologies were recognized for their rapid growth and innovative products during a ceremony on the St. John’s campus.

Invest Atlantic 2016 Recap: NL Companies wow, and Genesis Centre set to host in 2017!

As this year’s excellent Invest Atlantic event drew to a close yesterday, Newfoundland and Labrador had lots to be proud of.

Invest Atlantic first started in 2010 and is hosted each year in a different Atlantic Canadian city, this year taking place in Moncton, NB. The conference brings together over 300 startups, entrepreneurs, and investors, to listen to the best and brightest speakers and panels in Atlantic Canada.

In the Workshop with: SubC Imaging

Here’s our second edition of In the Workshop, and our first with a graduate company. SubC Imaging is an underwater camera and digital relay producer, and was founded in 2010 and entered the Genesis Centre shortly after. From its start at the Centre with a total of two employees, co-founders Chad Collett and Adam Rowe, SubC expanded to a total of 11 full-time employees by the time of its graduation in 2014.

MPs Seamus O'Regan and Nick Whalen visit Genesis for Facebook Roundtable

On August 15, 2016, Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament Seamus O'Regan and Nick Whalen, along with Kevin Chan, Head of Public Policy for Facebook Canada, attended an innovation roundtable in the Genesis large boardroom. The entire event was live streamed via Facebook Live and Mr. O'Regan's Facebook page, allowing over 1800 viewers to tune in live and listen along as the attendees discussed innovation and entrepreneurship in our province for over an hour and 20 minutes.
