According to a Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, the chances of getting hired for a job in the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador are down. Way down. Compared to the same quarter in 2015, hiring rates among St. John’s employers are down 20%, and only 10% of employers indicated that they might gain a new hire in the near future. This news paints a grave picture of the future of employment in NL. Or does it? Entrepreneurship is a brighter field than ever.

MPs Seamus O'Regan and Nick Whalen visit Genesis for Facebook Roundtable

On August 15, 2016, Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament Seamus O'Regan and Nick Whalen, along with Kevin Chan, Head of Public Policy for Facebook Canada, attended an innovation roundtable in the Genesis large boardroom. The entire event was live streamed via Facebook Live and Mr. O'Regan's Facebook page, allowing over 1800 viewers to tune in live and listen along as the attendees discussed innovation and entrepreneurship in our province for over an hour and 20 minutes.

Empowered Homes, the newest company accepted into the Genesis Centre, conducts home energy inspections. These audits educate homeowners about energy conservation and energy efficiency; the benefits of the audits include lowering heating costs for the homeowners and reducing emissions in the environment.
