Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Genesis Centre is competitive and is targeted at entrepreneurs who are pursuing technology-based businesses with high growth potential. Companies applying to the Genesis Centre must be willing to operate in Newfoundland and Labrador.

What we look for in entrepreneurs

We’re looking for entrepreneurs who can drive a venture in its early stages. The entrepreneur must show vision for running the company and be able to handle all aspects of operating a venture and steering the company toward rapid growth.

What we look for in technology

We assess your technology in terms of its intellectual property, its industry application and the ability to protect or produce that technology.

Growth Potential

The growth potential of the business opportunity is assessed based on projected market size. Genesis clients have the potential to achieve multimillion-dollar annual revenue within a few years of commercialization.

Application Process

Complete the online application form. We encourage you to read our FAQs before applying.

Once we receive your application, our Start-up Development Coordinator will contact you to find out more about your venture.

If your company is the right fit for the Genesis Centre, we will invite you to fill out a detailed application form that tells us a lot more about your venture. At this level we’re looking for information about, for example, how many people you’ll need to hire, who your target market is and who your business partners are (if any). This information enables us to carry out due diligence on your application.

After we receive your detailed application, the Genesis Centre staff will determine whether your proposal is ready for you to present to the Selection Committee.

Our Selection Committee is made up of business experts from different sectors who will review your application and make the final decision.

The entire process usually takes about 6-8 weeks.
