Michelle Simms, CEO of Genesis Group

Michelle joined the Genesis Centre in 2002 as a business analyst and was promoted to vice president in 2015. She assumed the role of President and CEO in August of 2016. With more than a decade of experience advising technology companies, Michelle is passionate about entrepreneurs and advancing the technology sector of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Angelo Casanas, Director, Programs & Partnerships

Angelo joined the Genesis Centre in 2014 and works closely with clients to ensure they have the programs, funding and university resources they need. He also runs the Evolution program, which leads early stage start-ups through their business model in an 8-week workshop.

Lisa Griffin, Financial Assistant

Lisa joined the Genesis Centre staff in 2009.  Prior to joining the Centre, Lisa worked with public account firms over a 13 year period in numerous administrative positions and spent the last seven of those years as an office administrator

Colin Corcoran, Director of Finance

Colin Corcoran is an accountant, entrepreneur and serial volunteer. He was the Director of Finance and Administration at Choices for Youth where he was responsible for fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and spurring social enterprise development for the organization.

 

Liam Flanagan, Start-up Development Coordinator

Working within the start-up community of Newfoundland and Labrador has been the main goal for Liam since he began with the Genesis Centre as a work-term student in 2015. Liam is responsible for the Centre's Evolution program, which guides early stage start-ups through their business model in an 8-week workshop.

 

Megan Dobbin, Community Engagement Coordinator

Megan joined the Genesis Centre staff in 2017. She works with the team to develop and implement the Centre’s marketing and communications strategies, including promotion of Genesis and engagement of various stakeholders. She has previously been involved in the local ecosystem with roles at a funding agency, local start-up and investment firm.

Rebecca Greene, Administrative Assistant

Rebecca joined the Genesis Centre in 2017 and provides administrative support for clients and Genesis staff. She brings experience in a variety of roles in human resources, payroll, insurance, job classification, office administration, and retail sales. She is actively completing her Bachelor of Business Administration through Memorial University in her spare time.

Dyanna McCarthy, Program Coordinator, Women in Technology and Start-Up Visa

Dyanna has been employed in the technology sector for over four years, working with companies and partners to grow and support the sector in the province. She started at the Genesis Centre in 2018, taking on a new role managing the Women in Technology and Startup Visa Programs.

 
 

Andrew Simmons, Account manager

Andrew Simmons moved into the Account Manager role at the Genesis Centre in 2018. Through his previous role with delivering provincial R&D funding programs, Andrew worked with technology companies in all stages of growth and in a variety of industries. He is excited to use the skills he’s gained from his previous position to assist the Genesis Centre clients overcome their challenges and capitalize on commercial opportunities.

Andrew holds a BBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland

Andrew Goldsworthy, Business Development Consultant 

Andrew joins the Genesis Centre team as the Business Development Consultant. This position is designed to help support Genesis Centre companies, mainly through project-based structured work projects and coaching. Andrew is very familiar with the Genesis Centre. Back in 2003, as co-founder of Thrive Software, Andrew experienced the Genesis Centre from the perspective of a tenant. Most recently, Andrew has been an instructor at the College of the North Atlantic where he focused on strategy, sales and marketing.
