Michelle Simms, CEO of Genesis Group

Michelle joined the Genesis Centre in 2002 as a business analyst and was promoted to vice president in 2015. She assumed the role of President and CEO in August of 2016. With more than a decade of experience advising technology companies, Michelle is passionate about entrepreneurs and advancing the technology sector of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Angelo Casanas, Director, Programs & Partnerships

Angelo joined the Genesis Centre in 2014 and works closely with clients to ensure they have the programs, funding and university resources they need. He also runs the Evolution program, which leads early stage start-ups through their business model in an 8-week workshop.

Dana Parsons, Venture Lead

Dana’s passion for problem solving led to her taking the leap into the start up world as Co-Founder with Brownie Points Inc.  A PMP® certificated project manager, she is the Chapter Lead for Ladies Learning Code in Newfoundland and Labrador. This year Dana was also invited to join 21Inc's top 50 Innovators under 40 as a delegate from NL

Lisa Griffin, Financial Assistant

Lisa joined the Genesis Centre staff in 2009.  Prior to joining the Centre, Lisa worked with public account firms over a 13 year period in numerous administrative positions and spent the last seven of those years as an office administrator

Michelle Kavanagh, Incubation Services Admin

Michelle joined the Genesis Centre staff in 2016. She comes to us with over 18 years of Office Management, Executive & Administrative and even Administration Support from Cruise Industry.

Colin Corcoran, Director of Finance

Colin Corcoran is an accountant, entrepreneur and serial volunteer. He was the Director of Finance and Administration at Choices for Youth where he was responsible for fostering the entrepreneurial spirit and spurring social enterprise development for the organization.

 

Liam Flanagan, Startup Development Coordinator

Working within the startup community of Newfoundland and Labrador has been the main goal for Liam since he began with the Genesis Centre as a work-term student in 2015. Liam is responsible for the Centre's Evolution program, which guides early stage start-ups through their business model in an 8-week workshop.

Elizabeth Kennedy, Community Engagement Coordinator

Elizabeth recently joined the Genesis Centre in 2017. She works to ensure the Centre's key messaging is evident through promotion of its programming, events, clients, and graduates. Prior to joining the Genesis Centre, she held work terms with the St. John's Board of Trade and Imperial Oil.
